Here comes the long awaited independent project! This project showcases everything we've learned in the past few months in VAM!
My artwork consists of a combination between realism and cartoon art. It is not particularly influenced by anything or anyone however my source of inspiration comes from the unity of colours. I mainly use traditional mediums such as graphite, charcoals, pencil crayons and more. For my independent project, I used acrylic paint. My independent project is a depiction of my thoughts and ideas of nature. It describes three forms of nature: land, water and life. For this art piece, I used acrylic paint, a bit different then my usual go-to mediums. I learned many different methods in which I can use acrylic paint. I had not used the medium before, and through doing this project, I learned lots about how to use the paints to achieve the look I was going for. The middle painting representing life as a form of nature was my favourite for this project, this is because it was the easiest for me to complete, and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. I faced the least troubles completing the center painting. This project was a great learning experience for me. I stand by the fact that an artist is never satisfied with their work. There are many things I would change in this project, as I learned from the mistakes I made during this project. Something that really surprised me while making this piece is how the colours blend in with each other. Usually, you wouldn't put blue and orange together as they are separate tones, but while doing this project, blue and orange were the colours I mixed the most. Art is all about learning and adapting your artwork based on the outcome. I want others to understand the different forms of nature and the colour that comes with it. I want to be able to convey the ideas and thoughts I have about nature, how even the littlest elements make the greatest art piece.
